The launch of Porta dos Fundos’ Christmas Special has become a national event: those who are a fan are waiting to find out what the story will be and who are a hater are waiting to criticize.
In the special since this year, released this Wednesday (15), called “Te prego abroad”, Porta dos Fundos decided to tell the adolescence of Jesus Christ and all the issues involving this stage of life, such as bullying, in an animation produced by strychnine.
“We always wanted to do animation at Porta. With the pandemic, this became a solution and we combined the useful with the pleasant”, said Fabio Porchat, founding partner, screenwriter and actor of Porta dos Fundos. “We were lucky to have found Strecnina, because they think very similar to ours. Many of the visual cues came from them and were approved right away. They got it right,” he added.
The short tells the journey of Jesus to the Adão e Eva Municipal School and counts on the help of his friend, Lázaro, so that his schoolmates do not discover that he is the Messiah.
“A year ago, Cristian Rôças (CEO of Porta dos Fundos) brought me the idea of doing the Special. It’s a super production, there are more than 80 sets and more than 200 characters”, said Cazé Pecini, director of the Special and founder of Estricnina Desenhos Animados.
To publicize the Special, Porta dos Fundos has a digital campaign on social networks and OOH in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília, produced by VMLY&R and distributed in Brazil and Mexico.
As it is an animation with dubbing, the agency also produced campaigns on Spotify with actors who participated, such as: Rafael Portugal, who gives voice to Jesus, Fabio Porchat, who gives voice to Herodes, Fabio de Luca, who gives voice to Lazarus and Estevam Naboth, who gives voice to God.
“The Christmas Special is highly anticipated by fans. Porta celebrates 10 years in August of next year, so we started the celebrations with this launch”, said Christian Rôças, Porta dos Fundos CEO.
The thirty-minute short was released on Paramount+ and is available in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.
